Date: 2009-07-03 10:20 pm (UTC)→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: CANNOT ANSWER THIS QUESTION. There are too many. I really loved a lot of things that happened after avatarplot, though.
Okay, actually, my favorite bit of interaction may be Ronan and Nita, under the influence of love-in-idleness. But seriously, there's so damn much -- all the 24 stuff, and the stuff she's done with
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): Another tough one. I guess
the stuff I stole from Joss WhedonNita's weird relationship with death -- the possibility of her own, and others' -- these days is something I really enjoy, and always want to explore more.→ the last thing they did "off screen": Depends on the continuity! But in main Milliways continuity, I think the last thing she did off-screen was start packing a box for college.
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: "See you later. Thanks."
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Oof. She's a little bit in limbo, these days, as I do not have the brain or time generally for plots. She's going to college in the fall, though!

Date: 2009-07-03 10:40 pm (UTC)→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: TEAM RESCUE. Hands down.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): A lot of Epimetheus is original, because there's so little mythology surrounding him -- he screws up with the gifts, he falls madly in love with Pandora, they have a couple kids, and then . . . gone. I really like the backstory stuff I came up with for him. My favorite detail, though, is his memory. Epimetheus means hindsight, Prometheus means foresight. I liked the idea that where Prometheus could prophesy, Epimetheus could remember -- but never really learn.
→ the last thing they did "off screen": Helped deliver kittens in Chicago. A Titan's work is never done.
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: "Wait, seriously--?"
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Well, at some point, here, Raguel really owes him a punch in the face . . .

Date: 2009-07-03 10:51 pm (UTC)for the smutbecause Downside always allows you to take pups in interesting new directions; it's such a unique setting.→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: Oof, that's a tough one. I think That Contract with Chainsaw is probably my favorite, though.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): Ummm. The name. I've babbled at you about the way her names have changed, right? From Nita to Cricket to Sweetheart. (She's actually pondering going back to Cricket, thanks to recent events in the e-mail threads; "Sweetheart" is just such a stripper name, and she's trying to convince herself that she's more than some trashy contractor without a conscience.)
→ the last thing they did "off screen": *... amused* She hasn't actually been off-screen for, what, forty-eight, sixty hours?
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: I am going to interpret this one as "if she were reincarnated tomorrow" -- then her last words would be "Look out for me." If she were sent to Timeheart tomorrow, her last words would be "Thank you."
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Maybe put her in m_m, get her some interaction with people who aren't part of the situation with our Rorschach.

Date: 2009-07-03 11:47 pm (UTC)I would totally have trouble adjusting to her as Cricket. It sounds so different from Sweetheart, and means such different things. But I do not think I have a single pup who knows her and wouldn't immediately, wholeheartedly embrace the switch. Especially considering her reasons. It would be... *counts* ...four or five variations of "Okay, Cricket! Sounds like a good name to me."
no subject
Date: 2009-07-04 12:26 am (UTC)It means such different things, and it would be a step back, and I'm not sure that's really what she needs. But I don't have the first clue what she would change her name to as a step forward; it's the kind of thing that's better discovered organically, and nothing has suggested itself yet.

Date: 2009-07-04 02:55 am (UTC)I DO know that James Dean got thrown into the mix because when Merc and I were talking about this idea of an alpha wolf leading a motorcycle gang, I had just seen A Streetcar Named Desire for the first time at CMU, and I was very much considering Marlon Brando for the PB. Russ has -- or at least had -- a fair amount of Stanley Kowalski in him. Then I started looking for James Dean pictures, as another iconic bad boy, and found this picture of him on a motorcycle and was sold.
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: Oh man. Um. I loved the kidnap plot like burning. But I also really loved Claire and Russ executing the arsonists.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): His tragic backstory.
→ the last thing they did "off screen": Geez, it's been a while. I know Merc and I decided that he and Gwen are in an off-again stage, due to Russ having been more interested in running the Pack than in spending time with her (ie, he hasn't been around when I haven't been around). Last thing he did off-screen was probably go for a zombie hunt on the outskirts of the city. Chicago is getting more civilized, and his brand of brutality isn't so popular/effective as it used to be.
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: "*snarl*"
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Re-reading stuff for this meme makes me want to play him again, so who knows? Maybe a post in the Wasteland this weekend!

Date: 2009-07-04 04:31 am (UTC)You know, I was going to ask about Valerie, but the more I think it over, the more curious I am about Charles Wallace. Ah heck. I can't pick two, can I? :)
no subject
Date: 2009-07-04 05:02 am (UTC)But first, Charles.
→ why I decided to play this character: Couple of reasons, starting with "Man the bar really ought to have more L'Engle characters" coming up multiple times in various chats. Then there's the fact that the Murry family books comprised a huge part of my youth -- there was a year or so where my mom and I were just working our way through L'Engle's oeuvre, starting from Wrinkle in Time and I think eventually losing our interest somewhere around . . . meh, I don't remember, it was one of the ones where Vicky Austin and Zachary Gray are once again making eyes at each other. (I was not nearly as interested in the Austin family books, although last year I rediscovered how much I love A Ring of Endless Light.)
ANYWAY. Finally -- well, how about I just quote from the post I made when I apped him:
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: Every thread in this post, when Charles crashed in Milliways and could hear everyone.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): His college career, I think. I mean, it's nothing strikingly original, but it always seemed a shame that he just disappeared from the books. I like establishing that he's doing something.
→ the last thing they did "off screen": Took a weekend trip to New York City. Went to the World Trade Center. Remembered the skyline without them and wondered what he could possibly do to keep them from falling, and whether or not he should.
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: "So dawn goes down to day -- nothing gold can stay."
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Not sure! I'm not planning on retiring him any time soon -- I have always hoped I'll be able to find him a job through Milliways, to explain his disappearance from canon, so I guess he'll keep hanging out skating through school until then.
I do keep meaning to play that evil AU version of him that went to the Academy again, though . . .

Date: 2009-07-04 12:10 pm (UTC)... This is me wanting to see more written about that lovely Welsh colony in whatever way I can, I admit it. *massively biased* Anyhow. aha! I'm not the only one who's wondered where the heck Charles Wallace went later on in the series. Kudos to you for going there in Millicanon. And... um. I have a sudden urge to play the Taos!Sariel I've been pondering off of Taos!Charles. Gotta love AUs, hm?

Date: 2009-07-04 05:32 am (UTC)→ why I decided to play this character: Because I was madly in love with V for Vendetta -- and partly because at that time, we already had a V and an Evey, so I couldn't app either of them. >.> But I also wanted to play an actress, being one myself, and I also wanted to up the number of genuine lesbians in Milliways (the bar has more gay men than you can shake a stick at, if you'll pardon the imagery, and plenty of bisexual women, but very few lesbians). And I just . . . I love Valerie's story. She's the best woman Alan Moore ever wrote, and the Wachowski brothers did right be her. I wanted to do right by her too.
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: Hmmm. I am really very proud of her nightmare during the Kingdom Come plot.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): I love making up details about her past acting jobs, on stage and screen. (I had too much fun inventing the plot to Red Murder last Halloween.)
→ the last thing they did "off screen": Uuuuh. See below.
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: Well, her last words were "With all my heart. I love you." If she moved on tomorrow -- left the bar -- her very last word would be "Ruth?"
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Well! A couple things. First, I need to explain where she's been for the last, um, almost year. OOC-ly, her headvoice basically faded out for a long while. IC-ly, I've been thinking about what I might be able to do with the labyrinth out back -- time does move strangely there, after all, and a day lost in there could turn out to be a year lost in Milliways. So it's on my list of "Write this one day" (along with the rest of Tom's OOMs . . . la la la . . .).
From a longer view, I've always known what has to happen before Valerie will be unBound: she needs to know that she'll be remembered, and that her story is known. The most terrible thing about her world, and her history, is that she knows her films were probably banned, if not destroyed, when Norsefire took over the government. Ruth is as dead as she is, she's sure. If any of her friends are still alive, it hardly seems likely that they'd talk about her; it'd be too dangerous.
I had hoped, back when we had a V, that V would eventually tell her that not only is she not forgotten, but that her final letter reached him and inspired him. Now that we lack a V, she has to know in some other way that she won't be forgotten. James Bond and Sarah Jane Smith naming their daughter after her is a HUGE huge step on that path. I still hold out hope we'll get a V or an Evey or a Finch or someone who can tell her how her world has changed since her death, though.

Date: 2009-07-04 11:56 am (UTC)As for that nightmare... I have to say, I've always thought that was a brilliant OOM. I admit, bits of it got me thinking along the lines that eventually led to Sariel's own nightmare during that plot. *salutes!*

Date: 2009-07-05 12:33 am (UTC)Of course, I have to figure out exactly what I want her to learn from the labyrinth. Chances of Larkhill imagery = high, I know that, at least.
D'aw, thank you! I like writing nightmares. *shifty*

Date: 2009-07-05 10:22 pm (UTC)And for what it's worth, Sariel hasn't mentioned Valerie on-camera, at least not as having been around as normal or conspicuously absent. I didn't want to godmode, you know?

Date: 2009-07-05 01:12 am (UTC)One of the things that attracted me to Eustace, and that remained my favorite part of him, was that he was so ordinary. The Pevensies are Narnian royalty, and Polly and Diggory are practically the father and mother of the land, but Eustace and Jill are just . . . kids. And Eustace is a brat, to boot. I really love the ordinary people in extraordinary situations.
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: This question is so hard. D: I thought about saying Aslan and Eustace, or Band Candy!Lucy and Eustace, or all the stuff around Blodwen-bewitched!Caspian . . . but I've gotta go with dragon!Eustace. Those threads were the most fun I had with him, hands down.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): The little details of what his parents disapproved of, like smoking. Those bits of backstory were fun.
→ the last thing they did "off screen": Being as he's in Aslan's country nowadays with the rest of his family and friends, probably went exploring. Ever further up and further in!
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: . . . *amused* Eustace is almost the only one of my characters who has already died and doesn't have anyplace better to go. His last words before the railway accident were "I can't see them yet--" He didn't get even that much before being thrown through the stable door -- he just got out a yell.
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): I miss Eustace, but his story is done, and happily done. No plans for him.

Date: 2009-07-05 04:20 am (UTC)Sadly, there is more truth to that than not. But also! I love Whedon and I was so excited to discover a character I thought I could do justice to. I also first started playing her because I thought it would be fun to bring her in with lots of different personalities -- I could play with all the fragments of OCs I have in my head, with a pre-set PB and bonus backstory! But that never happened, for a couple reasons: one, I couldn't come up with a reasonable way for Echo to come to Milliways during an engagement without creating awful IC tangles when she left the bar (either she disappears from an engagement, panicking Boyd, or she returns in the same instant as a markedly different person, panicking Topher). Two, I discovered that she's way more interesting to play in the tabula rasa state in any case.
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date: Meeting James Mayer. Playing freaked!Echo is fun (*eyes Academy!Charles* Um, you were saying about having a type? . . .), and James' growing suspicions are awesome.
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs): Details of living in the house! Playing off Topher is especially good for that.
→ the last thing they did "off screen": Umm, since she and Topher are still Bound . . . sat in their room looking at the mountains out the window. She's fascinated by the mountains.
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow: ... *small* I don't like the answer to this question.
"What?"
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever): Continuing to explore how Milliways helps her become self-aware! Although I might still do some time-skipping and bring her in from an engagement. I would really like to try bringing her in from "True Believer". (I have always been fascinated by disabled characters; playing a blind girl in The Miracle Worker when I was . . . god, I don't remember how old I was, maybe fourteen? Anyway, as small as the role was, it was such a fun acting challenge.)
