So I just saw OSF'S Measure for Measure, which is my first exposure to the whole show. It was lovely! The concept -- 1970s-era city with a large Hispanic population, scored with mariachi music provided by an all-woman trio -- was remarkably consistent and well-handled, the design was simple and great (with the exception of a few unnecessary projections), and the acting was pretty solid all the way around. (Isabella's voice was a little grating, but the performance was good.)
I spent the whole time staring at the Duke, though, trying to figure out what I recognized him from or who he reminded me of. I didn't get a chance to check the program until afterwards.
OH. No wonder I thought all the Duke's plans were sketchy: it's Frederick Chilton from Silence of the Lambs. (Although also, SERIOUSLY THE DUKE IS SKETCHY. And everyone goes along with him! WTF, Shakespeare! Also also, why is it always friars or faux-friars with the terrible convoluted ideas?)
