Asking your prof what to study for the midterm, and having him look at you blankly and say, "Everything."
Especially when the readings for the class have consisted, for each class meeting, of a 20+ page chapter from a book, and 10+ pages of additional documents.
(This is, for the record, the Religion prof.)

At least I wrote a kickass paper on Three Sisters. I got to reference Bakhtin and use the word chthonic. How academic am I, baby?
