I was doing a bit back about being a Presidential Scholar finalist?

Well.

It appears I was misinformed.

The principal pulled me aside two weeks ago to say "You're going to be
recognized for being a finalist in the Presidential Scholar Program
at the school board meeting April 9th." "Awesome!" I said. "Let me go tell
CMU so they might give me more money!"

Two days ago, I got a letter from the Presidential Scholar Program that said
"Sorry, you're not a semi-finalist. Thanks for participating!"

". . . This is weird," my parents and I said, and tracked down the principal
today to find out what was going on.

Turns out I'm not a finalist, or a semi-finalist. I'm being recognized for
being a candidate. Not a finalist, like she told me. Like we told
CMU.

An hour ago I was so pissed that she couldn't accurately tell me a simple
piece of information I was nearly sobbing. Now I'm just tired, and still
annoyed. Seriously, how hard is it to tell the difference between the
phrases "one of 2700 candidates" and "one of 500 finalists"?

Rar. And Mom insists that I still go to the school board meeting to get . .
. whatever I'm getting. Applause. Whatever.
