This is good to know. I get more energized and enthused over a day of finding costumes for characters than I have about three days of directing. Directing's fun, and all, and I suspect if I could be directing more experienced people I'd be enjoying myself more -- trying to make myself clear without being condescending is hard work.
But there's something extraordinarily exciting about looking at racks of costumes and saying "How can I use you?" and making something. I'll have to get a picture of my rag puppy costume, just for the ears. And ditto the Velveteen Rabbit, though less for the ears on that one. Maybe design's my future.

Date: 2007-03-22 01:36 am (UTC). . . I may be a little biased, but.
I mean, there's something awesome about finding something that seems completely random and knowing that it will be right, that it will build a character in people's minds; something even more awesome about creating something from scratch that does that, and working on it forever and wanting to throw it across the room or burn it in a fiery furnace or something and then seeing it on stage and being like "HAH. TOTALLY WORTH IT."
I really need a costume geekery icon.
