My class seems unified in disdain for Time Bandits.

Bah, say I, they have no sense of fun. Though I concede the
ridiculousness of the movie.

We watched some of Supersize Me in PE, and in spite of that, I
feel like walking somewhere to get ice cream. Something small, of
course; I figure the walking and karate tonight will help counteract
the extra calories.

I need to write that fic for conuly. *makes a note*

Mmm. Nothing like open periods to make you feel lazy.

I had heard that Time Bandits was HILARIOUS by people who quoted it periodically ("Mom! Dad! Don't touch that -- it's EVIL!"), so I was prepared to really like it. Possibly that's just the over-hype effect, but I couldn't get into it when I finally saw it. It had a number of fun moments, of course, and fun quotes for later, but mostly I just couldn't really care about what was happening.

Then again, I could barely stay awake through Dark Crystal when I saw it as an adult. So possibly this is one of those see-it-at-a-formative-age situations, or possibly I am just an uncultured savage. Either is possible!

*nodnod* It's very much a kid's movie. I mean, it's a kid's dream, especially a geeky kid -- traveling through time to meet Napoleon and Robin Hood, fighting Ultimate Evil with the help of cowboys, knights, and a Panzer -- but as an adult, it's . . . weird.

It's also very British. Some of it is like those Monty Python sketches that make you chuckle while you eye them askance, because it doesn't make sense.

But. Sean Connery! *shallow*

That movie is running just behind A Fish Called Wanda for our Moviegasm. I'm looking forward to it muchly.

Its been ages since I've seen Time Bandits. I seem to recall that I did like it- even if I didn't quite get it. Now, I'm wondering how it will be like if I see it now, with a more adult perspective.
