Fuck. Fuck. I've been suspended from the wireless network. And you know why? Because my STUPID WINDOWS VISTA screwed me over so I don't have a word processor so I have to write my papers on GoogleDocs so I have to download them constantly to check how I'm doing on pages.

THAT'S why.

I have sent a frantic but restrained e-mail to the abuse team asking that they restore my access, but, uh, you may not see much of me for the next 45 days.

FUCK.

Fuck this, I'm getting coffee. I can't think straight right now, and I have thirteen more fucking pages to right today. God damn it.

I might do that, if I can figure out where the heck the Ethernet port is in my computer. I think it might be behind my dresser.

And, well, to be fair, they warned me three times. >.> And you can sure as hell bet I curbed my network usage. I haven't downloaded music or video in weeks -- and if it had been one of those that pushed me over, I'd be more resigned. Getting suspended for doing schoolwork, though -- nngh.

You haven't been using the landline to download? They only let you DL a little amount over wireless, but the landline limit is bigger.

Do you not have access to a landline that is convenient?

They're fairly reasonable, though. I've had a similar problem when downloading lots of .pdf files for research stuff and I forget to switch to the landline.

And usually they send a warning e-mail first. WTF.

Wow...that is...incredibly stupid on the part of your school's IT abuse department. The only times I've lost access to the wireless network were because:

1) my computer got a virus and was "attacking other computers in the network" and
2) the RIAA apparently discovered my bootleg copy of "Hotel California" and handed my name over to the school, along with a laundry list of other poor bastards who happen to like classic rock. Or something.

Also, 45 DAYS??? Is that their standard block of time for any bandwidth infraction? Because if you can trip it with GoogleDocs, then I think they need to reconfigure their settings.

Hey, I'll add my voice to the chorus in favor of OpenOffice. I've been using it on my Mac at work, and it's been working just fine. The interface pretty much looks just like Microsoft Office, and you can save stuff in Word or Excel formats if that's what your profs want.
