Me = Awesome.

Why did I not post about this last night? I was busting with glee, lemme tell you. This is the story of Me Being Awesome.
So I'm in this Topics in Art History class. I had quite a bit of trouble at the beginning of the semester getting signed up via online registration; the Art dept. wouldn't let me in because I'm not an Art student, and the History dept. (I thought) wouldn't let me in because I'm not a History student. I talked to the Little Old Transylvanian Prof (no joke! She's really Transylvanian!) and she said "Yes, yes, tell them you talked to me." So I did, and the History dept. signed me up, after telling me that I hadn't been able to sign up because I'm a freshman, not because I'm not a History student. Okay, whatever, I was in.
A week later, I went in to talk to LOTP about the outline for that 15 page paper you remember me posting incessantly about. We talked, she told me exactly what she wanted in the paper and in what order (er . . . thanks?), and then asked, "Why did you have so much trouble getting into the class?"
"Oh, the Art dept. wouldn't let me in because I'm not an Art student," I said. She tsked. "And the History dept. wouldn't let me in because I'm a freshman."
". . . You're a freshman?"
Oh shit, I did not say. She said, ominously, that she didn't take freshmen because we can't write good papers and she needs a good paper. She gave me a dubious look and said, "Are you a good student?"
"Yes ma'am!" I exclaimed, as vehemently as possible. She laughed, which I figured meant I was okay, quizzed me about my past paper-writing experience, and let me stay in the class. From there, of course, I was determined to write an AWESOME paper and be an AWESOME student so that she would change her mind about freshmen.
Well. I finally got to see my grade on that (18 page) paper last night.
Not only did I get an A, but she liked it so much she asked to keep it.
And that is why I am AWESOME, today.
In totally unrelated news, I am vaguely obsessed with the copy of "Let The River Run" I have -- a cappella choral. I looked it up on YouTube the other day and discovered that it's actually an '80s Carly Simon rock song, which cracks me right up because my version is so . . . so solemn, and reverent, yet it has a lot of the joy and exuberance of the original.
None of the big hair or shoulder pads, though.
Now that I've read the lyrics, it's also one of the few songs I have that I feel really works for the Young Wizards series. Because . . . it really works. We're coming to the edge, running on the water / Coming through the fog, your sons and daughters . . .
I'm in a good mood. Neither gray, nor damp, nor time of month can keep me from my appointed joy.
