It should be noted that I say "totally," but what I really mean is, "totally, given that the rules of the dorm wouldn't get you kicked out for them." >.> Some schools roll like that.
At my alma mater, you could have certain kinds of weapons (not guns or other shooting-type weapons) in your dorm room if you registered them with the College. There was a form and everything -- if you filled it out and it was approved, you could carry the thing around, between buildings and to practices and such, without being bothered by the authorities. The rules vary from school to school, I'm sure.
But considering that for three years, I lived in a dormitory where the actual numerical majority of people on my floor trained with some kind of martial arts weapon? It's good to check first.
Hm. Good point. I don't actually consider them a weapon (untrained people who try to use nunchaku are insane; untrained people who try to use nunchaku made of ALUMINUM PIPE are certifiable), but then, I'm not the college administration.
Bring 'em if you can - they'd look great on the wall. Build a little collection of fun stuff: it's a good conversation starter (my Fabio shrine always gets comments).
