Apr. 12th, 2009 07:37 pmIn Philadelphia; my plane ought to be boarding in 5-10 minutes. And then I'll be back in Pittsburgh.
So yeah. Yesterday I went to the memorial service for my great-uncle, Stephen. I must have met him at some point, probably more than once, but I didn't know him. Hell, I didn't know over half the people there. That was the real reason I went -- because Mom felt very strongly that I needed to meet this side of the family, on the West coast rather than just the Midwest.
It was a nice service. I got teary when the California Honor Guard (Uncle Steve was a pilot in WWII and a Marine) gave Margaret the American flag.
I also got sunburned in the weirdest places because I was sitting in the sun. Oh well.
Today is Easter, and I haven't gone to a single service over Triduum or today, and I'm certainly not going to get a chance. That's more disappointing than I expected it to be. Maybe I'll make it to Mass next week to make up for it.
I've certainly prayed plenty today, though; the flight from San Francisco to Philly was very turbulent, and, y'know? After the last plane you were on went 'splody in mid-air? It's amazing how religious you get on subsequent plane rides.
Time to give my computer the five minutes it needs to shut down and get ready to board. Catch you on the flip side!
