Nov. 6th, 2008 08:03 pmSo I've been working -- slowly -- on World War Z, at my roommate's insistence. "It'll help you get over your fear of zombies!" she said. ". . . Remind me to tell you which parts not to read right before bedtime so you don't have nightmares."
"GEE THANKS," I said. But I've stuck with it.
And I just hit one of the sections that I'm pretty sure ought to give me nightmares: Gavin Blaire, Parnell Air National Guard Base, Tennessee, in "Home Front USA" -- the female pilot whose plane went down in Louisiana wilderness, surrounded by zombies.
And the ending nearly made me cry.
Damn you, Max Brooks. Damn.
