(no subject)

So I was woken at noon today by the pounding drums of "The Final Countdown" playing on the Carnival Midway outside my window.

Man, I have no idea what to do with myself during Carnival. Most of my friends either have closer friends they'll probably be hanging around with, or are on crew for the Commedia dell'Arte show, or are out of town, or will be spending this four day weekend drunk out of their minds. Chances are I can tag along on some of that, I suppose, but -- as has been said before -- getting drunk out of my mind is not an atractive prospect. So I guess I'll just be wandering a lot, and catching up on sleep if possible..

The Roots will be playing tonight at 8, and a ton of local bands are playing all through Saturday. There are rides, and booths set up by the Greek organizations that look AMAZING (they're ENORMOUS. This is not your Sunday School's carnival booth.) and rides and the buggy races.

Anyhoo. First thing I'm doing is getting some food from Kiva Han, 'cause I've been jonesing for some spicy black bean soup.

So I think I'm gonna write one of my final papers on kabuki and noh influences in anime, specifically using either Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away as a case study. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, of course, and I'll be going looking for other analyses along those lines -- but in the meantime, while I binge on anime on a gorgeous summer day research, anyone of the scholarly anime fans on my f-list have any resources I should look at?

Man. Okay. My music tastes tend to vary from hour to hour, let only day to day. In the last week or so, though, these are the songs I've had stuck in my head and that I've been playing on the piano every chance I get.
