adiva_calandia: (running down the road)
I had a perfectly lovely day today playing hooky with [livejournal.com profile] buongiornodaisy, tooling around Pittsburgh and seeing Run Fatboy Run.

The original plan had been to meet, head over to the Soldiers and Sailors building, and hang out outside the Obama rally -- word was that they were going to set up speakers outside for the many, many people who hadn't been able to get tickets. Unfortunately, that didn't happen; we drove around the area twice looking for parking (and sniggering about the Hilary supporters across the street from the line of people waiting for the rally to start) and finally went back to her hotel to watch it on TV (along with snippets of the Colbert Report and some Matt Damon movie, which apparently, Midge, was School Ties). Much less dramatic, I know, but a hell of a lot warmer. And she made me coffee! Because she is just that awesome.

After the speech was over, we headed back to Oakland, found cheap parking at the Carnegie Museum, and had lunch at Fuel & Fuddle while discussing length of tags and writing dialects. After that, we caught the (slooooo and laaaaate) bus to the Waterfront, wandered around Barnes & Noble for an hour, giggled hysterically over Keith Olbermann and Bill O'Reilly's books being shelved next to each other (picture to come), and finally caught the 5:15 showing of Run Fatboy Run.

I think it is not particularly spoilery to say that it was GREAT; Simon Pegg and Dylan Moran make my life; and I feel like going running now.

On a more sober note, on the way out of the theater I called my dad back, and he informed me there have been reports showing up that Singulair may be linked to suicide. O.o More on that later, perhaps; for now, I'll just say that Dad pointed out that if I'm feeling overly anxious -- which I have been, since around Spring Break -- it might not be me, and it might not be school. It might be the drugs. Holy crap, the PSAs were right!!!

After that, we caught the bus back to Oakland, I dropped off Midge at her car, and we parted ways -- she with hot chocolate in hand, I with my iPod and a weekend of paper-writing to look forward to. Ugh. Papers. I think I have 12+ pages of writing due Monday, so I may not be around much this weekend. All the more reason to be glad of the day off with an awesome friend. :D
