If I say that it's miserably hot up here, and then add that it's in the mid-70's, will I get a lot of "Psssh"s? 'Cause I wouldn't blame you.
Regardless, it's miserably hot -- literally. I woke up this morning looking forward to the day, and then the heat hit and I wanted to curl up and die. Karate was even worse, because the dojo's warm normally, then you add outside heat and hard working, and ugh.
A good point about karate, though: Another class gone without using my inhaler because I was breathing fine through the whole thing. :D
Even better point about karate: one of my less favorite senpais came up to me as I was sweeping the mats after class and said "So are you going to keep doing karate in Pittsburgh?"
"Well, I'll try, if I can find a dojo."
"There's not a club there already?"
"Not as far as I know. I didn't have time to look this summer."
"Well, you could start one."
". . . What?"
He explained that, well, yeah -- I'm a black belt, after all, and I'm not different from other black belts trained by Mr. Tanaka who've left the state and started dojos. And no, he told me when I asked, I don't need a special license to give out belts or anything -- it's called my black belt certificate, and as long as I'm sanctioned by Mr. Tanaka, no problem.
"And you know what they'd call you?" he added.
". . . Senpai?"
"Nope. Sensei."
Which turned out to be a ridiculously good temptation.
I doubt I'm gonna have time to start my own mini-dojo; but knowing that I could teach other people and stay in practice . . .
Cool thought.
