adiva_calandia: (running down the road)
Today we track down the Seattle Kaladi Bros., get our teeth cleaned (my uncle's a dentist, and a good one), and then hit the road the head for Longview, WA, where my dad grew up and one of my other uncles currently lives.

I think Seattle has a grudge against me meeting people here; this makes it three meet-ups that have been attempted and haven't panned out. Hmmph. Well, I've learned my lessons -- next time I drag phone numbers out of everyone, plan well in advance, and don't say "Let's meet for coffee in Pike Place Market." Because AHAHA Pike Place is huger than I think.

I love Seattle, though. I really do. We went to the U district yesterday and ate at the Continental, a Greek cafe that my parents have been patronizing continuously for thirty years, and admired the vast amounts of weirdness walking around there. And Pike Place . . . oh, Pike Place. One of these days I'm writing a story set in Pike Place (I say that every time I come to Seattle, lately, and it has yet to be true, but SOMEDAY it will be), because a little bit of my heart lives there.

Now then. To shower, to packing, and to coffee!

I am in . . . oh, crap, I do know the name of this place, I swear, it's just slipped my mind. Well, it's about ten minutes away from Longview, so I'll call it Longview until corrected.

We're staying at my uncle's house, and he lacks wireless, so I'll be spending tonight watching SPN eps (probably not a fantastic plan, but la, do I care?) and maybe re-watching S&A (since it's in my threadz and my flistz).

While my uncle lacks wireless, he possesses a motorcycle, and I kind of really really really want to ask him to teach me to ride. I haven't run this past my parents yet, of course. >.>

Drove the freeway today and successfully passed a number of trucks at 70 mph, and managed to only cut one person off. Of course, it was a semi and outweighed me by several tons, and cutting him off was probably a very very bad idea, but nobody died, so it's okay.

Finally, I give you LOLGenesis, from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] sanguine_zephyr.

Our dinner was briefly interrupted by a phone call to my uncle from some friends of his, saying that their train had hit a lettuce truck, so they would be delayed.

"That sounds like a setup to a joke," I said. "Heads will roll."

"Tomorrow's headline," contributed my dad. "Southern California train in TITANIC COLLISION WITH ICEBERG lettuce truck."
