Rabih Abou-Khalil
Oct. 3rd, 2004 08:53 pmI was feeling really melancholy today, for some reason. Part of it is that it feels like Inner Circle is over -- it's not, though. We perform at Steller on Wed., McLaughlin on Fri., and keep rehearsing once a week through November. Anyway, so I was kinda depressed, and going to Religious Ed didn't help.
But today, Dad got a CD called "Morton's Foot" by this Middle Eastern guy named Rabih Abou-Khalil he had heard about on NPR. The instruments in this band are an oud (the Middle Eastern predecessor of a lute), a clarinet, an accordion, a tuba, and a vocalist whose voice sounds like a diggeridoo. I'm not even kidding. It's the funniest, coolest, weirdest thing I've ever heard. I mean, this guy's voice is in practically the same octave as the tuba in the background! It's sooooo weird! So go buy this CD. I doubt you'll regret it.
