falcongirl is keeping a list of outbreaks, and expressed surprise that it's gotten as far as Alaska. My guess is that this is something avian-carried -- bird flu type stuff, only with zombification. Alaska's right on a lot of migratory flight paths, especially right now.

Keep an eye on any birds in your area, especially geese or ducks or other migratory species, and post if they start behaving oddly, or if people start behaving oddly around them.

This is especially freaky, because if it is Avian Bird Zombie, it's crossed the species barrier awfully quickly.

You're all in my prayers, and believe me, I've been praying a lot in the last few hours.

ETA: Also -- Dad's safe, and typically mellow, and Mom's safe at work, and typically businesslike. Still haven't heard from friends, or family in the Lower 48.

ETA2: sanguine_zephyr has checked in and "pwomised" that she's not zombified. The use of "pwomise" has me slightly suspicious, but at least she's still communicating.

Oh Jesus, guys, I thought it was just a nightmare but then I woke up and checked my f-list.

Oh, God. My parents are out of the house and not answering their phones, and I don't have keys to the second car so I can't get out. I locked all the doors and barricaded tham and I'm staying on the second floor, but oh, Jesus, I don't have any weapons except my cheesy katana and my aluminum nunchucks. I don't even have a fucking LIGHTER. Oh, god, what am I going do?
