I keep meaning to read those books since they sound engrossing.

I first tried them in high school when, to be perfectly honest, all I wanted was to sneak a book with explicit (and kinky!) sex into the house without my parents knowing, and I soon discovered that there was a lot of politics and intrigue in between the sex scenes and then the sex scenes petered out entirely and I lost interest.

But! Having picked it up again, it turns out that I can follow the politics reasonably well -- I haven't bothered to pay strict attention to which tertiary characters like Anafiel Delaunay and which think he's a creeper, but it doesn't affect my understanding of the story -- and in among the politics and intrigue is a lot of drama and angst and romance and clothing porn and EPIC FIGHT SCENES and the kinky sex I originally picked the books up for.

tl;dr: YES DO THAT THEY'RE GREAT FUN.
