Things that are awesome:
  1. Acting in a scene.
    1. Rehearsing said scene, in which my boyfriend makes a move on me before I reveal that I'm pregnant, out on the quad, in spite of the inherent OH GOD AWKWARD of it.
    2. The pretty girl director getting fed up with the boy's inability to make a move on me and doing it herself to show him what to do.
      1. "I don't know why you find this so difficult! She's hot!"
    3. Being told by a cute actor afterwards that "The moment when you held his hand on your stomach and were looking up at him -- I think that was the strongest moment of the scene."
  2. Watching three dozen actors in unitards, howling obscenities and battle-cries, thoroughly trounce the School of Art at dodgeball.
  3. Being told one's sound design is great.

A friendly suggestion to the liberals of America: for Pete's sake, either stop talking about Sarah Palin, or start talking about Joe Biden. John McCain is running for president, and yes, I know, Palin would be "a heartbeat away from the presidency," and that is certainly an issue, but she isn't the primary candidate here. Moreover, every joke at her expense is playing right into the GOP's hands, and keeping attention focused on her rather than McCain -- or for that matter, Obama and Biden. Hey, remember them?

Just a thought.

Oof. And now, I want coffee and food before rehearsal.

I... kind of disagree about Sarah Palin. While I agree that the Democrats need to stop being distracted by her and need to start talking about themselves again (or, more pointedly, attack McCain on issues that aren't his age, such as: his policies and the fact that he and Palin have decided that the "little facts" don't matter), as far as I'm concerned, running for Vice-President is the same thing as running for President. That's really the only purpose the VP Office serves - to assume the Presidency. So I don't think Palin should be evaluated less thoroughly than McCain because she's only running for Vice-President.

I'm not sure if you're asking me personally (and I am sure if we sit still long enough, [livejournal.com profile] birdseyeview will come and do this better than I'm going to), but -

Voting Record - He votes with the Democrats about 96.6% of the time (roughly the same as Obama), and looking over his votes against his party, most of them look like votes on amendments and motions rather than the bill itself. Key votes are here.

He's also been involved in writing several laws, including the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 (also called the Biden Crime Law) which included the Federal Assault Weapons Ban and the Violence Against Women Act, Kids 2000 which created a public/private drive to fund access to technology for after school programs, particularly those for low-income students, and others. He's served on the Senate's Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees (the latter of which he was chairman), as well as part of the Caucus on International Narcotics Control. If you're like me and don't see senators earmarking federal money for their constituents as the end of the world, then he garnered $67 million in 2007. If you don't like them, that's compared to the $223 million that went to Alaska.

Also, Biden's On The Issues page, which is really long because he's a senator.

In terms of his personal life, or at least things that come up a lot:

- Biden received five student deferments during the Vietnam War, and was then classified as being ineligible for service due to asthma. He did not take part in the anti-War movement.

- He has been married twice. He married his first wife, Neilia Hunter, in 1966, and the couple had three children, the oldest of which will be deployed to Iraq in October as part of the Delaware National Guard. Hunter and the couple's youngest child, Naomi, were killed in a car accident in 1972 (a few weeks after Biden's first election to the Senate) that also injured their two sons, who both recovered.

Biden married his second wife, Jill Jacobs, in 1977. They have one daughter, Ashley.

- Oh, and he's one of the poorest member of the Senate, confirmed by the recent release of his tax returns dating back ten years. In 2007, he and his wife had a gross income of $319,853. Both Obama and McCain are millionaires, though most of McCain's wealth is from his wife, who has not released her tax returns.

In terms of campaigning, he often has problems with "gaffes", as like McCain, he tends to speak his mind. Beyond comments like calling Obama "clean" and stating that Hillary Clinton may have been a better VP choice, I'll admit I don't know much about them because I... don't care that much. But I'm sure if you google "Biden" and "gaffes" you'll find a lot.
