....
Despite the prominent phrase "Barnard will not accept any financial aid applications begun after the deadline," they both want me and want to give me $25k.
HOLY SHIT.
A WINNER IS ME.
BITE ME, HARVARD AND-- wait, I can't insult Columbia if I go to Barnard.
Now I have to make a decision. Crap.

I was awarded a pretty big tuition scholarship to a private university that I really wanted to attend, but it would've been only good for my freshman year, and then I would've had to scrounge up 20k a year all by myself thereafter. That was a pretty big factor in me turning down their offer and going to the state college that offered me full tuition for four years instead.
Congratulations, though! That's very impressive.

Man, I'd probably spring for the full tuition too, as long as it wasn't in Alaska. *grin*
Thanks!

... wait.
If you go to Barnard, we can totally get together because we'll both live in the city.
... um. :D?

Cannot help much with decision-making, I'm afraid. I applied to three places, got into two, and went to the one of those that wasn't within five miles of my house. But that is a whole lot of money. What's Barnard's competition, at this point?
Also, WIN.

Barnard's competition is Carnegie Mellon, which will probably offer about the same amount -- we've yet to get an official letter on financial aid from them.
:D!

It's definitely Harvard's loss. =)

Something else to consider: New York rent is scary (and especially terrifying if you're used to property values in Alaska!). Pittsburgh rent is less scary. Does Barnard guarantee you reasonably-priced on-campus housing?

Thaaat is a good point about rent. I don't know. Barnard has on-campus dorms, and I assume I could choose to live there all four years if I wanted to; I'd definitely be living there the first year.
